About the Foundation

Gun violence affects the Black community more than any other community. Shawn Moss, a beloved son and father, was taken from us due to gun violence in 2014. To give voice to his legacy, the Shawn Moss Wellness and Growth (SWAG) Foundation was created. Our foundation fights against gun violence by uplifting our communities.

Shawn loved basketball, kids, and teaching. He loved to see young people in our community thrive and that is what our foundation aims to do. By providing educational resources, household items, and events that support communities disproportionately affected by gun violence, we set Black children and adults up for success. This program has grown every year and we hope to continue to make a positive impact with your support.

Friday Power Lunch

Friday Power Lunch (2/12/2021) tackled the tough issue of Gun Violence Prevention. We talked about legislation making its way through the General Assembly, as well as steps that need to be taken from the local level to the federal level.

"SWAG is what Shawn had. He knew that he could do and be anything he wanted to be. SWAG is having a purpose."
